A tincture is a powerful and highly bioavailable liquid that contains the therapeutic and beneficial compounds held within the cell walls of herbal material. These compounds are made accessible through extraction which is precise and measured to ensure that there is a known quantity of herb per ml. As some compounds are water soluble and others solvent soluble both water and a solvent are used, to obtain a full spectrum compound both water and solvent are used. Alcohol is actually a ‘functional’ ingredient in tincture making and essential to ensuring an efficacious and full spectrum product and there is an extremely small amount per serving, ripe fruit and kombucha in some instances can contain more alcohol than a serving of our tincture.

Adaptual tinctures can not be ‘duped’ and we are exclusively Australian grown, single origin and farm to bottle, no imported herbs will ever be used in the Adaptual apothecary. We are proud to specialise in a few unique crops, having the only Australian grown Ashwagandha and Gotu Kola on the market. Aside from being Australian grown we also provide a fresh plant extract which is different to all other products on the market which use dried imported herbs which can be many years old for their tinctures.
Are your herbs organic?

Yes, all of our herbs are organic. We do not use any synthetic chemicals, pesticides or fungicides on the farm. Weed management is performed manually to ensure purity as herbs have very delicate and penetrable cell walls, ‘cert organic approved’ chemical management is not an option as it does not align with our values of soil protection, customer health and ensuring Adaptual products are as clean as possible. Electric and hand harvesting methods are exclusively used, preventing exhaust fumes from coming into contact with any herbs - we really try to think of everything.

All of our tinctures and glycetracts are extracted in a GMP certified environment and filled in a TGA approved facility. All products are micro tested by a 3rd party lab just before release.
Herbs are grown strictly with chemical free farming methods and we only sell what we grow.
Casey has a background as a food technologist so is BIG on testing, safety and proper manufacturing processes.

Why is extraction needed?
Put simply extraction is needed for herbs to reach their full potential and to ensure the bioavailability of the compounds within the plant cells.
The extraction process dissolves and mobilises the healing compounds which work therapeutically within our bodies.
It is important to understand that extraction does not always mean 'isolate' or that a highly industrialised process is involved, in fact making a cup of tea is an extraction process, whereby the water soluble compounds are dissolved into the hot water upon steeping. In the case of Adaptual use minimal yet scientifically efficacious methods of extraction with no heat or synthetics so plants remain true to their original form with full spectrum compounds.

What is your tincture making process?
Adaptual tinctures start as a seed. Carefully, we nurture and grow the herbs until they are ready for harvesting at peak potency.
Once harvested the herbs are washed, sorted for their desired therapeutic parts (eg. roots, leaved or flowers) and prepared for extraction. As we grow the herbs we use fresh herbs for extraction and do not participate in the drying process. This preserves the vibrancy and results in a better tincture.
A shredding machine is used to macerate the herbal material which increases surface area for extraction and also tenderise the cell walls. Extraction begins by soaking the plant material in the extraction liquid, this process can take 5-15 days depending on the herb. Specific calculations are made to ensure a certain amount of plant material per ml.
After extraction is complete the tincture liquid is filtered using a reverse osmosis filter and then sent off for testing before being bottled.
